The finish you choose decides both how your floor looks and how long it lasts. Here’s a plain-language guide to the eco-friendly Finitec finishes we use.
First, the sheen
Sheen is simply how shiny the floor looks. You can choose:
- Gloss — bright and reflective.
- Semi-gloss — a classic, easy-to-clean shine.
- Satin — a soft, subtle sheen and a popular middle ground.
- Matte — understated and modern.
- Ultra Matte — the look of a natural oiled floor, with the durability of a varnish.
Then, the durability
All our finishes are ecological, low-VOC, odourless and non-yellowing. Where they differ is how long they’re built to last:
- Finitec Ex-Matt (very matte, pre-oiled look) — 10 to 15 years.
- Finitec Ex-3 (semi-gloss, gloss or matte) — 8 to 10 years.
- Finitec Ex-Hybrid (semi-gloss or gloss) — 15 to 20 years.
- Finitec Ex-Tech / Finitec 9000 (semi-gloss or matte) — 18 to 25 years, and ideal for homes with dogs.
Which should you choose?
For a busy household or a home with pets, a longer-lasting, harder finish like Ex-Tech makes sense. If you love the natural, barely-there look of raw wood, Ultra Matte is hard to beat. Not sure? We’ll talk it through during your estimate and match the finish to how you actually live.
